Learn how to use an Arabic dictionary. Words in Arabic dictionaries are normally listed under their three-letter roots. So you would look for istiqbaal ("reception") under "q" because the root letters are q-b-l. Getting used to this takes a little practice but it is not particularly difficult because additions to the roots follow set patterns. Something similar happens in English: "unaccustomed", for example, is actually "un-a-custom-ed".
A second solution is cultural immersion: going to an Arabic speaking country to live the real Arabic dream. No doubt about it, this is the ideal way to learn any language because you get to speak with natives, learn their correct pronunciation and live the way they do. Unfortunately, moving to a different country is something most of us cannot afford.
Phrases are easier to remember because they have meaning, they paint a picture, they tell a story. I accidentally(!) started learning Levantine Arabic surrounded by friends in language cafés – and suddenly I realized I had started to learn like a child, out of pure joy! Listening, asking, repeating and suddenly identifying words, grammar, verbs. It was the most wonderful feeling, falling in love with a language and a culture through your friends – all at once. This was about 1,5 years ago and the few words, verbs and sentences I have learned (and been practicing a lot) since then has made me so happy.

I believe a lot of native teachers don’t appreciate dialects because this is what we were taught. Arabs are taught that the dialects are a cheap way to make ‘real’ Arabic less important, and that dialects are merely made-up languages whose origin is Classical Arabic. Whether this claim is true or not, we all tend to believe so. Another reason is perhaps because we are never taught our dialects. We acquire them from our parents, so we are usually not aware of their grammatical rules.
the fact is we have to learn the MSA as it the language of teaching and learning , reading and writing, and the language we use everyday in our life, we cannot write it. however some people use it in the social media, it is very frustrating and can hardly understand what they mean. in my opinion you should learn MSA if you really want to learn the Arabic language, as MSA unites the Arab world together. If they can’t understand when they communicate in their dialect, then they use MSA instead. Each of the Arab counties use different terms and expressions which it is hard to understand. Hence, learn and speak the MSA and if they don’t understand you it means they are illiterate, and there are not much of them. and those who laugh about hearing you talking in MSA, that’s because they are not used to hear it more often, it is mostly used in formal situations.

I would be really grateful if anyone can help me with this, I want to learn an Arabic dialect for professional and religious reasons like reading the Quran, I’ve gone through the Egyptian dialect but it seems weird to me to pronoun jameel as gameel which is the case for all jeem(j) words in egyptian arabic. Can you tell me which dialects pronunciation is closest to Quran. Kindly consider the request that i am talking about pronunciation. Which dialects are you offering to teach and how much do they cost?

Unlike the layered verbiage you’ll contend with when you’re ready to read novelists like Naguib Mahfouz or Ahlam Mosteghanemi, you have a chance at understanding the meaning of Tamer’s sentences. For example, in “النمور في اليوم العاشر” (Tigers on the Tenth Day), the parallel sentence structures give you a chance to follow the progression of the story from day one to day ten as the tiger gives up the pieces of his freedom and dignity. Hey, I didn’t say they were happy stories.

The Hifz (Memorization) and its retention and safeguarding in the chests is one of the prominent Sunnahs found in the lives of The Sahaaba and our Righteous Predecessors. This preservation and passing on of the recitation was done in the strictest of manners without letting any deviations or differences to creep in. The Rules of Recitation, i.e. Tajweed is a result of these efforts.
Modern Standard Arabic. Unless your interest is confined to one particular country, the safest option is to learn a version of the classical language known as Modern Standard Arabic. MSA is used across the Arab World, but is generally confined to writing and formal contexts: literature, newspapers, education, radio/television news programs, political speeches, etc.

Being one of the oldest spoken languages on Earth, Arabic has a rich history and influenced different languages worldwide. For example, Maltese has been greatly influenced by Arabic. This is because the Arabs conquered Sicily, Malta’s neighbor island, in the 9th century. But Arabic also influenced the western world with words like “admiral”, “coffee” and “giraffe” which have Arabic origins.
Reading is a much better way to gather new vocabulary than encountering new words out of context. In the Finbo the Whale story, for example, I finally got a grasp on spelling حوت (whale), which was a word I’d heard before but struggled with. Which letter H? ح or ه? Which letter T? ت or ط? By reading it several times in context, the correct spelling now just “looks right.”

A mostly unknown fact is that the Arabic language is the most widely spoken Afroasiatic language. The Afroasiatic language family spreads across the majority of Africa and the Middle East and is made of 300 languages and dialects. A more popular fact among language lovers is that Arabic is a Semitic language much like Hebrew and Aramaic. This is good news for Hebrew speakers because these two languages belong to the Central Semitic language group and have much in common. For example, both Arabic and Hebrew use abjads. An adjab is a system in which each letter stands for a consonant rather than a vowel. This means that when you write in Arabic or Hebrew you have to provide the vowels by writing vowel marks.
