Learn the Arabic alphabet. The Arabic script seems daunting at first, and some people try to avoid learning it by relying on transliterations of Arabic words. This merely stores up problems for later; it is much better to ignore transliterations and use the script from the start. The best you can do is to buy or borrow a book at the library, since this is a long and difficult project.

The Qur'an ("Qor-Ann") is a Message from Allah (swt) to humanity. It was transmitted to us in a chain starting from the Almighty Himself (swt) to the angel Gabriel to the Prophet Muhammad (saw). This message was given to the Prophet (saw) in pieces over a period spanning approximately 23 years (610 CE to 632 CE). The Prophet (saw) was 40 years old when the Qur'an began to be revealed to him, and he was 63 when the revelation was completed. The language of the original message was Arabic, but it has been translated into many other languages.
IQRA Network is what I've been looking for--for years! Top notch teachers that connect with my kids personally while teaching them Arabic and Quran in a fun, interactive way. I've tried a lot of different classes for my kids and THIS is my dream program. My oldest was beaming after her last class saying "I memorized so many verses. My teacher made it easy and she even explained the meaning!" My youngest enjoyed the games her teacher incorporated in the hour long class. Little does she know they help her focus more! For the first time my children are looking forward to Arabic and Quran classes. Thank you IQRA Network!
Reading is a much better way to gather new vocabulary than encountering new words out of context. In the Finbo the Whale story, for example, I finally got a grasp on spelling حوت (whale), which was a word I’d heard before but struggled with. Which letter H? ح or ه? Which letter T? ت or ط? By reading it several times in context, the correct spelling now just “looks right.”
Congratulations! You’ve decided to learn Arabic. This is a challenging but rewarding endeavor. Arabic is the sixth most spoken language in the world, with nearly 420 million people speaking it worldwide. Learning a new language is always a big undertaking, but when the new language doesn’t share a root with your native tongue, it’s even more difficult.
But,for me,fusha, puts you in the best place to learn dialects a lot quicker. You see what the dialects are doing clearer, like you do when listening to a child trying to explain things. Fusha is also richer, and offers a door to a over 1000 years of poetry, and the high culture of islam. Also the Arabs try to pull rank over you if you speak just a dialect, and they have a pedantic love of correcting. Once you know the fusha and a dialect, they sit back, and say ماء شاء الله.
Also, with regards to dialects. If you want to learn Egyptian Arabic, maybe you can gather a decent variety of resources, but, I mean, Arabic resources suck in general without trying to find a variety of resources for a specific dialect. My husband speaks Arabic, but there are zero resources available in his dialect. I’ve just studied MSA and then listened and observed the differences and how to adapt.

The Arabic language is counted among the most important languages worldwide. More than 300 million people in over 20 countries speak Arabic. This Afro-Asian language originated several thousands of years ago. Originally only spoken on the Arabic peninsula, it later became widespread. There are many different Arabic dialects. Many of the dialects are very different from standard Arabic. Speakers from different regions often do not understand each other at all. Ancient Arabic is hardly spoken today. It exists most notably in the written form. Interest in Arabic has increased in recent years.
