Minhaj-ul-Quran International founded by Shaykh-ul-Islam Professor Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri in 1980 is actively involved in propagating Islamic teachings based on peace, love and harmony, purifying heart and soul, embellishing ideal morals ethics, revival of Islamic sciences and renaissance from its very first day. In recent era, it has become very difficult for overseas Muslims to go to Mosques or Islamic Centers and learn the Holy Quran and its sciences due to their busy schedule of life and work. That’s why, in order to facilitate them to understand the Holy Quran & its Sciences, we offer online courses to quench the thirst of learning Quran & its Sciences. We invite those who can’t approach to Mosque or Islamic centers and want to enlighten their inner and outer self with the light of Holy Quran and Sunnah of Holy Prophet (SAWW).
In other words – your words, advices and thoughts about language and culture deeply touched my heart on this particular Friday morning 🙂 Hopefully for many more. These experiences have changed my life completely, and I’m so grateful that you’re sharing these thoughts, helping to establish a new image/mind set of what a type of experience learning a language could really be.
I don’t get it though. MSA (fusha) allows for structure. You learn how to conjugate (kataba), and how to derive words (K-T-B, for alkitaab, for instance), and you get far with learning less by heart. You say, only study a dialect. How?! Dialect is ‘made-up’. There are no rules. Very interested in the answer. I think you need to study MSA, and consequently, as early as possible, should switch to converting it to dialect.

The Prophet (pbuh) said: “Verily the one who recites the Qur’an beautifully, smoothly, and precisely, he will be in the company of the noble and obedient angels. And as for the one who recites with difficulty, stammering or stumbling through its verses, then he will have TWICE that reward.” [Sahih Muslim; another version of this hadeeth with a slightly different wording can be found in Sahih Al-Bukhaari].
The Hifz (Memorization) and its retention and safeguarding in the chests is one of the prominent Sunnahs found in the lives of The Sahaaba and our Righteous Predecessors. This preservation and passing on of the recitation was done in the strictest of manners without letting any deviations or differences to creep in. The Rules of Recitation, i.e. Tajweed is a result of these efforts.
I learnt Gulf and Saudi,Nejdi and Hijazi. I’ll put it this way: you are in a great place with those dialects. With Hijazi, you got so many Egyptian words, so you can undendrstand Egyptians. Also the peninsula dialects carry over the boarders into places like iraq and jordan. I watch Jordanian bedu dramas and without studying Jordanian and can communicate with citizens from Amman and Baghdad without any difficulty.
